Five Acre Wines is a small boutique winery where the whole family is involved. Tasks including pruning, applying bird nets, handpicking and cellar duties are shared.
We grow our own Tempranillo on our easterly facing home block, 500mtrs above sea level, close to Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills. It is cane pruned to maintain vine balance early in winter every year.
With my background in Adelaide Hills viticulture, I work with growers that produce amazing fruit from their fantastic sites. These are selected for the other varieties that we make in small batches of premium wines with minimal intervention.
Our hand crafted limited production wines challenge the boundaries; with extended cold soaking, hand plunging, whole berry natural fermentations that are gently basket pressed to capture the full flavour of the fruit. We use a combination of seasoned and new French oak barrels to mature our wines. The estate grown Tempranillo is matured in seasoned American oak barrels.
Our wines are expressions of the season, soil and the year long toil in the vineyard, made to enjoy with great food, friends and family.
